Trump’s Plan for Ambassador Site

Reading about Trump’s grandiose plans for the Ambassador Hotel site raised in me some traditional interstate xenophobia.

Sure, it’s possible that our traditionally lax attention to architectural conservation makes Los Angeles look mighty attractive to rich builders hemmed in by East Coast insularity.

But the fact is, we have no need for New York’s favorite developer to demolish one of our historic landmarks. No way! We have demonstrated over and over again that we are perfectly capable of doing that ourselves. And I say that razing the lovely Ambassador is a job best left to the experts: Southern Californians.
