Roy G. Schmidt Succeeds Late Founder at Pereira Associates

Roy G. Schmidt has been named chairman of Pereira Associates, succeeding founder William L. Pereira who died Nov. 13. Schmidt will remain president and chief executive officer of the Los Angeles-based architectural firm.
Four executive vice presidents have been named, all senior partners of the Pereira firm. They are: Neil W. Birnbrauer, William H. Fain Jr., R. Scott Johnson and Alistair A. Laws.
Johnson will continue as director of design, Laws as director of special projects and international operations, Fain as director of urban design and planning and Birnbrauer, as director of management services.
Among the current projects of the firm are: Fox Plaza, the 34-story headquarters of 20th Century Fox, under construction in Century City; Rincon Center, twin 22-story mixed-use buildings in San Francisco, and the new corporate headquarters for Lockheed Corp. in Calabasas.
