Planning Assn. to Host Awards Dinner for Firms, Officials

The Los Angeles section of the American Planning Assn. will honor several urban planning firms and professionals at its annual awards dinner Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Taix Restaurant.
Among those to be honored are Gruen Associates for its “Beach Properties Improvement Plan,” Thirtieth Street Architects Inc. for its “Third Street Mall Design Guidelines” and Jacqueline Leavitt for outstanding contributions to women in planning.
Others are Suzette Neiman, vice president of the Los Angeles Planning Commission, for distinguished leadership; the Glendale News-Press for urban-planning news coverage, and the Southern California Institute of Architecture for excellence in planning education.
The program will include presentations and exhibits of the award-winning projects. A $12 fee will be charged at the door. Reservation information is available from the Inglewood Redevelopment Agency.
