The ABC Unified School District board has voted to hire an architectural firm to conduct a study of the cost of installing air conditioning in district schools and office buildings that do not have it.
The study, to be conducted by Davis-Duhaime Associates of Anaheim, will cost $24,500. It is expected to be completed in about a month.
A preliminary survey by the 22,000-student district indicates it has about 400,000 square feet of offices, classrooms, libraries, showers, locker rooms and miscellaneous space that are not air-conditioned and could cost as much as $6 million to equip.
