Commissioners of the San Diego Unified Port District on Tuesday gave unanimous conceptual approval to additional architectural details for the second tower of the Hotel Inter-Continental to be built adjacent to the proposed convention center at Navy Field. Last week, the port commissioners approved the concept of a curvilinear design for the second tower. The current tower is an elliptical design. Christopher Nils, an attorney representing Torrey Enterprises Inc., the project developer, said minor details still must be worked out before financing for the $80-million second tower is secured.
