Deep 7.5 quake shakes remote Peru jungle region

Lima, Peru — A deep 7.5-magnitude earthquake has shaken a sparsely populated jungle region near the triple border of Peru, Brazil and Bolivia. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck at 2:45 p.m. PST and had a depth of 374 miles. Its epicenter was 107 miles from the town of Iberia in Peru’s Madre de Dios region.
The USGS said the ground shook strongly in an area inhabited by fewer than 1,000 people.
