At least 16 killed in Afghanistan militant bombing attacks

Reporting from Kabul, Afghanistan — At least 16 people, including women and children, were killed Friday in bombing attacks by militants across Afghanistan, authorities reported.
Twelve died in southeastern Afghanistan when a roadside bomb struck a minivan traveling from Ghazni to the Qurabagh district. All of the passengers in the vehicle, six of them women and children, were killed by the explosion, said Ghazni deputy governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi.
In eastern Afghanistan, a suicide bomber blew himself up close to a NATO convoy, killing four people and injuring 13 others, all civilians. It was not immediately clear whether any of those who died were foreign troops, a provincial health official said.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said was aimed at American forces.
Hours later, a sucide car bomber targeted the NATO convoy in eastern Kabul. The Taliban also claimed credit for that attack, in which three Afghan civilians were injured.
