Reporting from Las Vegas — Comedian Cedric the Entertainer rings in the new year a little early with a show at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel on Dec. 30.
The performer found fame with TV shows and films such as “Barbershop,” “Johnson Family Vacation,” “Be Cool,” “Madagascar,” “The Original Kings of Comedy” and “The Soul Man.”
The original host of “It’s Showtime at the Apollo” gained fame playing comedian Steve Harvey’s best friend on the sitcom “The Steve Harvey Show” in 1996.
By 2005, he became one of the Kings of Comedy headliners with Harvey, D.L. Hughley and Bernie Mac, a gig that later became the film “The Original Kings of Comedy,” directed by Spike Lee.
Cedric, whose real name is Cedric Antonio Kyles, heads his own production company, A Bird and a Bear Entertainment, which first released “Johnson Family Vacation” in 2004. The stand-up comic is in talks for a sequel in 2016.
His next appearance on the big screen comes in “Barbershop 3: The Next Cut,” which will be released next spring.
Tickets for the Las Vegas show start at $49.50 and go on sale Sept. 25.
