UCLA’s Eric Kendricks is having a pretty special week

It’s been a good week for linebacker Eric Kendricks.
The redshirt senior linebacker played his best game of the season against Colorado, registering 16 tackles -- 15 solo -- when no other Bruin had more than seven. He also recorded a tackle for loss and a pass breakup, and intercepted a pass.
“That was really as well as I’ve ever seen him play,” Coach Jim Mora said during Tuesday’s Pac-12 conference call. “He was spectacular.”
On Monday, Kendricks, along with teammate Myles Jack, was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award for the best linebacker in the country.
On Tuesday, Kendricks was named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week for the third time this season. The only other players to win the award three times in one season are J.J. Watt, Ndamukong Suh and Manti Te’o.
Not bad company, and not a bad week.
“It was reflected by a great week of practice out here,” defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich said Wednesday. “It was probably the best week of practice I’ve ever seen him have in Westwood. He’s a guy that you think he’s got it, and he just keeps getting better.”
