Ducks’ Teemu Selanne comes home for oral surgery, to miss two weeks

Ducks forward Teemu Selanne will return to Orange County on Wednesday for oral surgery as a result of being struck in the upper mouth by a high stick in the team’s 3-2 victory Tuesday night in Philadelphia.
A Ducks spokesman said Selanne has “several missing teeth,” and required “40 stitches” to close the wound after being struck by Flyers defenseman Luke Schenn, and is expected to miss two weeks.
Selanne, 43, announced before the season that this one is his last.
The Ducks, in the midst of a season-long eight-game trip that stops at Boston onThursday night, have gone 3-2 while away from Honda Center, winning three straight despite a rash of injuries.
Before the team departed, forward Dustin Penner suffered a concussion in an Oct. 20 victory over Dallas and goalie Viktor Fasth suffered a lower body injury in practice Oct. 17.
Then, centers Saku Koivu (hit to head) and Mathieu Perreault (wrist) were hurt while forward Jakob Silfverberg was sidelined four to six weeks after being slashed in Ottawa.
The team was previously without defenseman Sheldon Souray and Luca Sbisa and forward Matt Beleskey.
