Rams tape review: Up-and-down moments from the offensive line in loss to Seahawks

The Rams couldn’t sweep the season series with the Seahawks on Thursday, falling 24-3 for the team’s fifth consecutive loss.
Each week we take a look at the tape to see what worked, what didn’t and what you might have missed.

What: Rams RB Todd Gurley rushes for a two-yard gain instead of a loss thanks to David Arkin
Down: First and 10
Time: 9:56 left in the first quarter
Now a two-yard run doesn’t necessarily scream highlight, but here watch how David Arkin (66), in with Jamon Brown (68) in an extra-heavy run formation, puts the finishing touches on a stumbling Seahawks end, saving Todd Gurley (30) from getting tackled behind the line of scrimmage.
What: Rams TE Lance Kendricks hits a key block on Gurley’s 11-yard run
Down: Second and 10
Time: 8:10 left in the first quarter
Lance Kendricks (88) goes in motion from the right to the left side but as soon as the ball is snapped he cuts back toward the middle of the formation to get a block on Michael Bennett (72). which also delays the pursuit of Cassius Marsh (91).
It’s also worth noting that all the receivers stayed on their blocks through Gurley’s carry should he have broken off a longer run.
What: Seahawks TE Luke Willson catches an eight-yard touchdown pass
Down: First and 10
Time: 12:27 left in second quarter
Tight end Luke Willson (82) bounces off Eugene Sims (97) on the line before taking off unchecked to the left side of the field. The Rams have a chance to prevent the touchdown, but cornerback Mike Jordan (35) throws a shoulder at the big man’s feet instead of trying to wrap him up and Willson scores easily.
What: William Hayes and T.J. McDonald light up Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls in the backfield
Down: Second and eight
Time: 10:26 left in second quarter
The Seahawks try to move the line to the right side on this carry for Thomas Rawls (34), problem is all that does is open up holes for William Hayes (95) and T.J. McDonald (25) to run through on their way for a shared tackle of the running back for a seven-yard loss.
What: Rams QB Jared Goff gets sacked by DE Cassius Marsh
Down: Third and three
Time: 8:59 left in the third quarter
On this drive alone, the Seahawks essentially got to Jared Goff (16) three times. Though one play was waved off for an offside, the quarterback still was sent to the ground.
Here Cassius Marsh splits left tackle Greg Robinson (73) and left guard Rodger Saffold (76) and takes Goff down again. This particular split happened several times in Seattle.
