Clippers reserve shooting guard C.J. Wilcox broke his right hand during the team’s opening summer league game and is scheduled to undergo surgery Friday. He’s expected to resume basketball activities in four to six weeks and be fully recovered in time for training camp.
Wilcox, 25, appeared in 23 games last season, averaging 3.0 points in only 7.3 minutes per game while making 39.1% of his three-pointers. He played well when given a few opportunities to play more extensively late in the season, sparking a near-comeback victory over the Golden State Warriors.
Wilcox has one more guaranteed season on his contract for $1.2 million. The Clippers hold a team option for $2.1 million in the 2017-18 season.
