Nick Young opts out of his contract with Lakers

As expected, Lakers guard Nick Young has opted out of the second year of his contract.
Young joined the Lakers last summer on a two-year, minimum contract -- with the opportunity to exit early to explore free agency in July.
Through 64 games, Young averaged 17.9 points a game while shooting 43.5% from the field and 38.6% from three-point range.
Though the 29-year old scorer will forgo $1.2 million with the Lakers to land a bigger contract, he’d happily re-sign and stay in his hometown (at the right price).
The Lakers are hoping to make big moves this off-season in free agency, but may be unwilling to give Young a large multiyear deal.
Young was paid $1.1 million for his year with the Lakers. He earned $5.6 million through the 2012-13 season with the Philadelphia 76ers.
