Irvine Beckman (24-6) vs. Irvine Woodbridge (19-11), 4:30 p.m.
Scouting report: Beckman defeated Woodbridge three times during Pacific Coast League play, but the Patriots haven’t seen left-hander Ben Wylly, who was injured for two months but came back and threw a shutout against Rialto in the playoffs. Beckman will counter with ace James Kaprielian. Beckman has a formidable batting order and is coming off an 8-2 win over top-seeded La Verne Bonita.
Division 2
Mission Viejo (22-13) vs. Etiwanda (18-11), 7:30 p.m.
Scouting report: Mission Viejo started the year ranked No. 1 in Southern California by The Times, struggled against top teams in March but has begun to fulfill its potential behind outfielder Austin Saenz, who has a school-record 54 hits and has scored 48 runs. Ace Willie Kuhl is ready to go on the mound. Etiwanda is a surprise finalist under first-year Coach Don Furnald. The Eagles have received solid pitching in playoff upsets of Redlands and Arcadia.
