Football: Tony Henney is new coach at St. Bonaventure
- Share via
St. Bonaventure has hired former Westlake Coach Tony Henney as its new football coach.
He replaces Adam Guerra, who resigned to move to Chicago.
Henney coached for two seasons at Westlake before being fired. He won CIF titles at Trabuco Hills and Nordhoff.
“I’m excited,” Henney said Tuesday.
St. Bonaventure has already lost several players who transferred but it’s not much different than when Henney got hired at Westlake. Quarterback Malik Henry transferred, and he had to replace longtime coach Jim Benkert, who’s now at Oaks Christian.
The musical chairs in movement of players and coaches will make the Marmonte League quite interesting. Westlake, Oaks Christian and St. Bonaventure are in the same league.
