Football: Ryan Zerbel takes pay cut to go from principal to head coach
- Share via
It has to be one of the strangest developments _ a principal resigning to become the football coach.
That’s what happened last week at La Canada High, where Ryan Zerbel, the principal for grades seven and eight, decided to switch roles, take a pay cut and become the football coach for the high school team.
Zerbel said it was “for the love of the game” that he made his decision to return to coaching. He will become a P.E. instructor.
He had been a head coach at Workman High in 2004 and 2005 before becoming an administrator.
La Canada football could be the big winner having someone with Zerbel’s passion and commitment.
