The worst-kept secret was confirmed on Thursday at Bellflower St. John Bosco when junior quarterback Josh Rosen announced he would attend UCLA.
Rosen made sure the suspense was at a minimum. He had Coach Jason Negro pull out three hats, but they were all UCLA hats.
“Because I’ve kept such a good secret about this and kept my cards so close to my chest, I’d like to bring out three hats. University of California Los Angeles, University of California Los Angeles, University of California Los Angeles,” he said.
There was speculation Michigan might persuade Rosen to come to Ann Arbor after a visit last week, but UCLA has been the favorite for weeks.
“This is it,” Rosen said when asked if he might take any other college visits. “I’m definitely going to UCLA.”
Rosen is considered a five-star recruit by Scout.com. He’s 6 feet 4, 210 pounds and led St. John Bosco to a 16-0 record last season after passing for 3,200 yards and 39 touchdowns.
Rosen tried to add some humor, thanking Negro “for keeping my massive head pointed in the right direction.”
He plans to graduate in December and enroll at UCLA in January.
