Football: New era begins on Friday for Alemany
- Share via
First-year Coach James Washington takes off the raps on his new program at Alemany on Friday night when the Warriors play at Oxnard in a 6:30 p.m. scrimmage.
Washington, who was a standout at L.A. Jordan, UCLA and with the Dallas Cowboys, is big on getting his players “to play for each other.”
The key for Alemany will be establishing an effective ground attack to go along with quarterback Miles Bryant and receivers Warren Jackson and Johnny Edwards.
Cayden Dunn, a former QB/receiver, will be Alemany’s starting running back. He has speed, so if the line is blocking, he should be effective.
Defensively, Washington is looking for consistency in tackling.
Depth could be an issue if there’s injuries.
Correction: An earlier blog had the scrimmage as Thursday. It is Friday.
