Before spring football practice has even begun, there are 10 players at Santa Ana Mater Dei with college scholarship offers. It’s an indication of the talent the Monarchs will have this fall as they attempt to challenge Corona Centennial and St. John Bosco for supremacy in the new Southern Section Division 1.
Among the six seniors to be with scholarship offers are receiver Osiris St. Brown (Stanford, Notre Dame, USC, Cal, UCLA); defensive back Jalen Cole (Colorado State, Idaho, Columbia, Brown); defensive back Xavier Bell (Nevada, Howard, Jackson State); linebacker Fa’avae Fa’avae (Arizona State, Washington State, Boise State, Louisville); defensive back Quentin Lake (Pittsburgh, Nevada, Hawaii, San Jose State), and defensive back Roman Kafentzis (Air Force, Fresno State, Army, Brown, Columbia).
Then there’s the talented underclassmen. Sophomore to be QB JT Daniels has offers from Cal, Notre Dame, UCLA, Washington, Arizona State and Brigham Young. Sophomore to be receiver Bru McCoy hasn’t played in a single varsity game but has offers from Notre Dame and Oregon. Junior lineman Tommy Brown has offers from Cal, Virginia and Missouri. Junior receiver Amon-ra St. Brown has offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Stanford, Utah, Washington and Michigan State.
