Football: Corona Centennial offensive line getting respect and scrutiny

Every time Concord De La Salle plays a Southern California team, its precision offensive line gets lots of scrutiny. They shift from a two-point stance to a three or four-point stance and some claim they get a rolling start.
Now Corona Centennial’s offensive line is starting to receive the same kind of attention.
That’s because the Huskies’ tackles shift laterally right before the snap and then also appear to get a rolling start similar to De La Salle.
But it’s perfectly legal if the rules are followed. And the bottom line is everyone is supposed to remain set for one second before the ball is snapped. Otherwise it’s a five-yard penalty for a false start.
Last week against Chaminade, the Eagles’ coaches weren’t too pleased because Centennial didn’t get called for any five-yard penalties.
Centennial plays St. John Bosco on Friday night in a Division 1 semifinal, and you can expect lots of attention for the offensive line. And in this case, it’s a compliment.
