Football: Carson is looking forward to rematch against San Pedro

The last time Carson and San Pedro played, the Marine League championship was on the line.
When the two rivals meet again on Friday night at San Pedro, a trip to the City Section Division I championship game at the Coliseum will be at stake.
Carson Coach Kevin McCall, whose team lost to the Pirates, 17-15, on Nov. 7, doesn’t mind that the game will be played at San Pedro, where the Pirates are 8-0.
“We don’t care,” McCall said. “We’ll play them in the park.”
McCall, in his second season, is someone who makes no excuses. Carson could be without quarterback Kikii Flores, who injured his knee late in the quarterfinal game last week against Crenshaw. If Flores can’t play, standouts Jabarii Minix or Devonte King will take over.
“I would love to have him, but we’ll be OK,” McCall said.
Carson will need to stop San Pedro running back Chrisi Alvidrez and find a way to move the ball better than its first meeting.
“We have to throw away our game plan and come in with a new plan,” McCall said. “We’re a much better team now.”
