Compton to honor gold medalist DeMar DeRozan on Saturday

The city of Compton is going to hold a celebration on Saturday in honor of former Compton High basketball standout DeMar DeRozan, who won a gold medal playing for Team USA.
It starts with a youth basketball camp at 9 a.m. at Lueders Park and DeMar DeRozan gymnasium, 1500 E. Rosecrans Blvd. Camp registration begins at 8 a.m. The event runs until 1 p.m.
The city of Compton and Compton’s Sheriff will be among those honoring DeRozan, who went on from Compton to USC and the Toronto Raptors.
