The Southern California high school basketball scene has lost one of its best coaches to the college ranks.
Reggie Morris Jr., who coached Russell Westbrook at Leuzinger and then built Redondo into a powerhouse program in his four seasons as coach, has resigned to become an assistant coach at Loyola Marymount, Redondo Athletic Director Andy Saltsman said.
Morris guided Redondo to a state Division II championship in 2013. His father, Reggie Sr., was a successful high school coach at Manual Arts before moving on to coach junior college basketball.
Saltsman said assistant coaches Victor Martin and John Fischer will be interim coaches for Redondo.
