Boys’ basketball: Former Loyola standout Thomas Welsh makes USA U19 team
- Share via
Former Loyola 7-foot center Thomas Welsh, who will be a sophomore at UCLA, has made the 12-man team selected to represent the United States at the FIBA U19 World Championships in Greece.
It shows the hard work and improvement for Welsh, who was not considered a top contender to make the team when tryouts began.
But Welsh impressed the selectors with his rebounding and perimeter game.
Arizona’s Sean Miller is head coach for the team. The tournament takes place June 27-July 5.
