Boys’ basketball: El Camino Real holds off Taft

El Camino Real stayed unbeaten in the West Valley League, but rival Taft gave the Conquistadores a good scare.
El Camino Real won, 57-54. Josiah Woods and Brandon Russell each had 14 points and Chris Terry added 13. Damian Wilson led Taft with 17 points. Granada Hills defeated Birmingham, 54-47. Michael Mensah had 18 points. Chatsworth defeated Cleveland, 58-45.
In the Western League, Fairfax improved to 22-0 with a 91-38 win over Hamilton. Donald Gipson had 17 points and Lindsey Drew added 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Westchester defeated Palisades, 69-53. Ellis Salahuddin scored 18 points. University defeated Venice, 81-78. Gabe Okmin scored 25 points, including six threes. Cushan Allen added 22 oints and Nick Brooks 19.
In the Coliseum League, View Park knocked off Crenshaw, 66-49.
Stephen Rocklin scored 24 points in Sherman Oaks CES’s 92-52 win over Valley Academy. Rocklin earlier had games of 31 and 39 points.
