Yasiel Puig at the break: Best in NL history?

For all the talk that Yasiel Puig has not played long enough to earn a spot in the All-Star Game, he is on pace to post the highest batting average any National League player has taken into the All-Star break.
The record among all major leaguers is .435, set by Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio of the New York Yankees in 1939. The record among NL players is .404, set by Hall of Famer Joe Medwick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 1937.
The information comes from STATS, based on a minimum of 150 plate appearances. Puig is batting .430 in 121 plate appearances. Barring injury, Puig should get 29 appearances in the 10 days the Dodgers have left before the break.
According to STATS, the last player to hit .400 at the break was Rod Carew of the 1983 Angels, at .402.
Two players might get there this year: Puig and Boston Red Sox shortstop Jose Iglesias, who is batting .411.
