Dodgers have no plans to sell standing-room tickets for playoffs

The Dodgers sold more tickets to Sunday’s playoff game than they had to any game this season, but President Stan Kasten said the team has no plans to sell standing-room tickets should the Dodgers advance in the playoffs.

The Dodgers are one victory from the National League championship series -- and five victories from their first World Series appearance since 1988.

The renovations at Dodger Stadium last winter included the removal of two to four rows in seating areas, accompanied by the addition of concourse railings where fans can stand and watch the game. Kasten said the Dodgers have “the capability and the facilities” to sell standing-room tickets but have no plans to do so.

The Dodgers sold 54,646 tickets to Sunday’s game, the first playoff game at Dodger Stadium since 2009. The regular-season high was 53,393, for a Sept. 14 game against the San Francisco Giants.

Kasten explained the difference by saying that fewer complimentary tickets are available for postseason games. Complimentary tickets are not included in announced attendance.
