Dodgers’ Hanley Ramirez leaves game in seventh with finger injury

That was a bad bounce that could seriously hurt the Dodgers.

Shortstop Hanley Ramirez, who had hit a two-run homer earlier Tuesday night, left the game against the Rockies in the seventh inning in pain after taking a hard-hit grounder off his right ring finger.

Colorado’s Corey Dickerson tagged a J.P. Howell pitch and sent a wicked one-hopper toward Ramirez, who tried to field it with his bare hand on top of his glove.

The ball hit the top of his ring finger, and Ramirez immediately started shaking his hand in pain. He started to walk off the field and was met by Stan Conte, the Dodgers’ head of athletic training.

As Conte examined the finger, Ramirez was in obvious pain. He previously had surgery on his right thumb.

Ramirez walked off the field with Conte. The Dodgers reported in the eighth inning that X-rays were negative and that the finger was not broken. For now, they’re calling it a bruised finger and Ramirez is listed as day to day.
