Two men allegedly armed with a lug-nut wrench were arrested on suspicion of stealing beer from a 7-Eleven in Fountain Valley Friday night, according to authorities.
Police said they responded to the convenience store at 10950 Warner Ave. about 7 p.m. after they got a call about a robbery in progress there.
Two men had threatened a clerk with a 18-inch wrench while they made off with a case of beer, according to the Fountain Valley Police Department. The clerk watched the two men flee in a white car, police said.
After police broadcast the car’s description, an officer found it driving on Talbert Avenue about a mile from the 7-Eleven, according to authorities.
Officers pulled over the car on Harbor Boulevard just north of MacArthur Boulevard and arrested the two men inside, police said. The wrench and stolen case of beer were found in the car, police said.
Andre Garcia, 19, of Santa Ana and Richard Figueroa, 25, of Huntington Beach were arrested on suspicion of robbery and booked at Orange County Jail, according to authorities.
