Man may have leaped to death; police investigating

Police have been unable to identify a man who apparently jumped to his death from a six-story parking structure across the street from South Coast Plaza on Wednesday night, officials said.

South Coast Plaza security guards found a man lying next to a parking structure at 660 Town Center Drive at about 10:40 p.m., said Sgt. Bryan Glass. There were no witnesses, and nothing seemed suspicious about the death, Glass said. His injuries were consistent with someone who had fallen from the structure, police said. He went over a nearly 4-foot wall.

Paramedics soon arrived and tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. He had no identification on him and the Orange County Sheriff’s Coroner will have to identify him, Glass said.
