Morning Fix: ‘American Sniper’ defendent needed help
- Share via
To the editor: It is tragic that “American Sniper” author Chris Kyle and friend Chad Littlefield were killed by a fellow veteran while trying to help him. But the biggest tragedy is what the U.S. government has done to convicted killer Eddie Ray Routh. (“Troubled ex-Marine sentenced to life in ‘American Sniper’ murder case,” Feb. 24)
It is unconscionable that Congress can vote to send men and women to war and fund that effort, but the same Congress refuses to fully fund the needs of these veterans who come back broken in spirit, mind and body. There should be a law that if Congress funds a war, it must also fully pay to care for the people who fight.
Routh deserved better.
