Interactive maps: Competing plans for supervisors’ districts

Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has emerged as a high-profile critic of plans that would create two Latino-majority districts on the Board of Supervisors. He has dismissed the proposals by Gloria Molina and Mark Ridley-Thomas as a "baldfaced gerrymander that is completely unnecessary." Molina and Ridley-Thomas, the two nonwhites on the board, say the county should redraw district lines to account for a growing number of Latinos, who now make up nearly half the population of Los Angeles County.
