David Klein, 64, dreamed up the Jelly Belly jelly bean, but sold the rights to his product in 1980 and says he has regretted the decision ever since.

Klein, right, enjoys a laugh with Steve Corri, owner of Garvey Nut & Candy in Pico Rivera, which distributes some of Klein’s products. Corri says Klein has a mind for candy and credits him with showing him “how to take a mundane product and redevelop it.”
