Soldier from Northern California killed in Afghanistan

A soldier from Northern California has been killed in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced.
Spec. Nicholas Burley, 22, of Red Bluff died Tuesday of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with indirect fire. The attack was in Pul-E-Alam, 30 miles south of Kabul.
Burley was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, from Fort Stewart, Ga.
He graduated from Red Bluff High in 2008.
