A skydiver was killed Saturday in an accident in Lake Elsinore, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station responded around 2:20 p.m. to Skydive Elsinore at 20701 Cereal Street after an employee called to report a skydiving accident.
The employee reported that a skydiver was down, the department said in a statement.
The arriving deputies found the victim just north of Skylark Field Airport and began administering first aid. The skydiver died at the scene.
It was not the first death at the skydiving facility. In 2008, an off-duty Riverside County sheriff’s deputy died in a parachuting accident.
In 2013, a 62-year-old skydiver became entangled in his parachute and plummeted into the backyard of a home.
The sheriff’s department is conducting an investigation into the accident. The age or gender of the victim was not released.
