“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kim Richards has been charged with battery after police say she refused to leave a hotel bathroom and tried to kick an officer in the groin.
Richards faces one misdemeanor count each of battery on an officer, resisting arrest and public intoxication following her April 16 arrest at the Polo Lounge in the Beverly Hills Hotel.
The former “Little House on the Prairie” actress is expected to be arraigned Thursday.
Richards, 50, caused a disturbance and was bothering patrons, Beverly Hills police Lt. Lincoln Hoshino said.
She appeared to be drunk, so security tried to escort her out of the restaurant, he said. Before leaving, she asked to use the restroom and then refused to come out, police said.
Richards exhibited “slurred speech and belligerent, insolent behavior, cursing at the officers and passively resisted arrest,” Hoshino said. Police had to pull her out of the restroom.
While she was being booked, Richards tried to kick a male officer in the groin, but the kick landed on his leg, Hoshino said.
According to E! News, Richards is in rehab.
Richards’ battle with alcohol abuse has been an ongoing subject on the reality show.
If convicted of the charges, she could face up to two years and six months in prison.
