Law enforcement authorities in Ventura County said Tuesday night they were searching for a 32-year-mother who abducted her child.
Brenda Quiroz had been stripped of parental rights per a court order and was not supposed to have contact with her 7-year-old daughter Nadine Basquez, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
Nadine’s father alerted Oxnard police that Quiroz had picked up the girl from Marina West Elementary School about 1:30 p.m. Monday, authorities said.
Quiroz is Latina, about 5-feet-4 and weighs 140 pounds, authorities said in a statement. She has several tattoos, including “Richard” on her neck and “Nadine” on her right ankle.
Anyone with information on Quiroz or her daughter is asked to call Oxnard police at (805) 385-7600.
