A 53-year-old Canyon Country businessman was sentenced Wednesday to nine years in state prison for trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife, a former runway model.
Dino Guglielmelli, once the owner of natural supplement company Creation’s Garden, pleaded no contest last week to attempting to murder his wife, 32-year-old Monica Andreny, who goes by her professional name Monica Olsen.
The couple were in a divorce battle at the time, fighting over money and the custody of their children, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Olsen appeared in court Wednesday to provide an impact statement, according to prosecutors.
Guglielmelli had allegedly approached a business associate asking him to kill Olsen for $80,000. In October, the business associate recorded a conversation in which Guglielmelli arranged the killing, according to the district attorney’s office.
On the recording, played in part at the preliminary hearing, Guglielmelli is asked how the couple’s two daughters will be when their mother is dead, according to the district attorney’s office.
Guglielmelli is heard to reply: “They’re totally fine. All they need is their dad.”
