Ten people were injured, one of them critically, in a head-on crash Sunday afternoon on Highway 126 on the outskirts of Fillmore in Ventura County, authorities said.
Six victims were taken to hospitals after the 2:11 p.m. accident east of Hopper Canyon Road, a Ventura County Fire spokesman said. The collision, about five miles east of the Fillmore city center, involved four vehicles, he added.
One woman was taken by helicopter to Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks in critical condition, the spokesman said.
Two adult women and a girl went by ambulance to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, and one man and a boy were taken, also by ambulance, to Ventura County Medical Center, the spokesman said.
The accident took place on a straightaway lined by orchards, vineyards and ranches, away from any intersection. There was no obvious reason why one of the drivers crossed into oncoming traffic, the spokesman said.
