Three people, including a firefighter, were injured in a fire Friday that destroyed a two-story apartment building and damaged a second building in the Toluca Lake area.
The fire broke out around 12:20 p.m. in the 4600 block of Riverton Avenue, according to Margaret Stewart, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

FOR THE RECORD
An earlier version of this post said the fire destroyed a two-story apartment building under construction. The building was being demolished.

When firefighters arrived, they saw flames engulfing a two-story apartment building that was being demolished.
The flames spread next door to a pair of units in a three-story apartment building.
“At that point, we went on the defensive,” Stewart said.
The building being demolished was a “complete loss,” she said. Additionally, a number of cars parked along the street were damaged or destroyed by the fire.
One woman suffered smoke inhalation and another person who jumped from an apartment unit suffered a minor burn injury. At least one firefighter was injured and was in stable condition at a hospital, according to the fire department.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, Stewart said.
