Dana Point explosion possibly caused by THC extraction from marijuana

Authorities are investigating an explosion in Dana Point possibly caused by the extraction of THC from marijuana, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies arrived at a home along Vista del Mar around noon Tuesday, aided by the Orange County Fire Authority, and found “preliminary evidence” there had been extraction of the active ingredient in marijuana called tetrahydrocannabinol, said sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jeff Hallock.
People inside the single-family home had been heating THC with butane, he said. Firefighters took one man to the hospital. No arrests have been made.
The explosion started in the garage, and after officials put out the fire, Hallock said, investigators and members of a hazardous device squad came to the site.
