At least 33 cars in an Orange County neighborhood were damaged when an apparent vandal went on a shooting rampage with a BB gun early Tuesday, police said.
Costa Mesa police officers who arrived about 3:30 a.m. found that about a dozen cars had been damaged by gunfire.
Throughout the morning, more reports came in about vehicles with broken windows, authorities said.
“It was mainly windows shot out, using apparently a BB gun,” Lt. Vic Bakkila said.
The damage stretched along Flamingo Drive, Mandarin Drive, Goldeneye Place, Mallard Drive, Pelican Place and Albatross Drive, authorities said.
A house on Pelican Place also was hit, Bakkila said.
Investigators believe the shots were fired from a car cruising through the area, Lt. Greg Scott said.
Police are working to identify all the victims. A damage estimate wasn’t immediately available.
Police asked that anyone with information about the case call investigators at (714) 754-5637.
