The Voice Blind auditions continue with judges Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. 8 p.m. NBC

Brooklyn Nine-Nine A federal marshal (guest star Maya Rudolph) is the only connection protected witnesses Jake and Capt. Holt (Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher) have to the outside world in the season premire of the police comedy. Rhea Perlman (“Cheers”) also guest stars with series regulars Terry Crews and Melissa Fumero. 8 p.m. Fox

The Contenders: 16 for ’16 This new episode of the documentary series looking back at past presidential candidates recall outspoken progressive Howard Dean and equally outspoken conservative Pat Buchanan. 8 p.m. KOCE

New Girl Newlyweds Schmidt and Cece (Max Greenfield, Hannah Simone) try to find a place of their own while Winston (Lamorne Morris) has a long-distance romance with Aly (Nasim Pedrad) and Nick (Jake Johnson) returns from his summer in New Orleans. Zooey Deschanel also stars in the season premiere. 8:30 p.m. Fox

Bull Michael Weatherly (“NCIS”) stars in this new series – based on the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw – as a trial consultant who uses psychology, data and technology to help his clients win. Freddy Rodriguez also stars. 9 p.m. CBS

MADtv Original cast members Alex Borstein and Will Sasso join regular cast members Carlie Craig, Jeremy D. Howard, Lyric Lewis, Michelle Ortiz and Adam Ray in this new episode of the sketch comedy series. 9 p.m. KTLA

Andrew Zimmern’s Driven by Food In the season finale two Berlin taxi drivers guide Zimmern on a culinary tour of the German city. 9 p.m. Travel

Scream Queens The horror-and-humor mashup returns, picking up several years after the first season in an abandoned hospital that has Dean Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) as its new owner. Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin and Keke Palmer also return. John Stamos and Taylor Lautner join the cast. 9 p.m. Fox

NCIS: New Orleans Vanessa Ferlito (“CSI: NY”) joins the cast as an FBI agent who investigates Pride (Scott Bakula) and his team while they’re on the case of a sniper who strikes at well-attended events. Steven Weber reprises his recurring role as the city’s mayor. Lucas Black and CCH Pounder costar in the season premiere. 10 p.m. CBS

This Is Us Several characters in this new drama share the same birthday, face individual challenges and have surprising connections. Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown and Justin Hartley star. 10 p.m. NBC

Defying the Nazis: The Sharps’ War This new documentary profiles Unitarian minister Waitstill Sharp and wife Martha, a Massachusetts couple who risked their lives to save hundreds of dissidents and refugees from Nazi oppression in Europe before and during World War II. Ken Burns and Artemis Joukowsky – grandson of the central subjects – direct. Tom Hanks and Marina Goldman provide the voices of the Sharps. 9 p.m. KOCE
