The rest of Morrissey’s U.S. tour dates have been canceled as he contends with a respiratory infection, according to a representative of the British singer.
“It is with great sadness that the remainder of the U.S. tour has been cancelled,” said a statement posted to Morrissey’s Facebook page. “The respiratory infection Morrissey contracted in Miami has worsened, and in the interest of making a full recovery, all further touring plans have been halted. Morrissey thanks his fans for their compassion, understanding, and well-wishes during this difficult period as he recuperates.”
The remaining shows had been scheduled to take place this month in Chicago; Flint, Mich.; Lewiston, N.Y.; Wilmington, Del.; Hershey, Pa.; New York City; Atlantic City, N.J.; Baltimore; and Washington.
Barclays Center, which was to host the New York City show, reproduced the statement on its own website and added: “All online and phone credit card orders will be automatically refunded. Remaining refunds will be available at point of purchase.”
The former Smiths singer’s tour kicked off May 7 in San Jose and included a stop three days later at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.
