Van Halen will hit the road this summer -- but first it’s hitting Hollywood Boulevard.
The long-running L.A. rock band, which reunited with frontman David Lee Roth in 2007, announced Tuesday that it will launch a North American tour July 5 in Seattle. The tour, scheduled to wrap Oct. 2 at the Hollywood Bowl, is Van Halen’s first outing since its tour behind “A Different Kind of Truth,” the group’s 2012 comeback album.
Before it leaves town, though, the band -- with Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, drummer Alex Van Halen and bassist Wolfgang Van Halen -- will play a hometown gig Monday on Hollywood Boulevard.
In a statement, the group promised “a hit-heavy set of songs” keyed to a new live album, “Tokyo Dome Live in Concert,” due out next week.
The outdoor show will be taped for broadcast on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” that night and the next, Tuesday. Van Halen is also set to perform April 2 on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
