Pop music: Kristin Hersh
Inventive indie singer-songwriter Kristin Hersh — the founding member of Throwing Muses and one third of the power trio 50 Foot Wave — aims to throw you into the deep end of her recent memoir, “Rat Girl,” a chronicle of a year in the mid-’80s when a diagnosis of bipolar disorder added to the roiling chaos of her life, complicated as it was by new fame, the demands of being in a touring band and adjusting to the idea of teenage motherhood. Hersh’s spoken-word and musical performance, with a book signing to follow, is part of the Saturday Nights at the Getty series. The Getty Center, 1200 Getty Center Drive, L.A. 7:30 p.m. Sat. Free (sold out). (310) 440-7300. https://www.getty.edu.
