The HFPA, which represents 55 countries, has presented the Golden Globe Awards since 1944.
“I am proud of the HFPA members for giving me this incredible opportunity to lead our organization and further our journalistic efforts,” said Kingma in a statement. “I looked forward to a unified and productive year.”
Born in Amsterdam, Kingma began his professional film career as a projectionist. After working as a production assistant on several films, he moved to Hollywood in 1989. A member of the HFPA for 20 years, the photographer has represented publications in the Netherlands, Germany and Australia.
Also elected Monday were Lorenzo Soria (vice president), Lilly Lui (executive secretary) and Meher Tatna (treasurer).
The HFPA Installation Luncheon to honor the officers and directors will be held later this summer.
