Tonys 2013: Joan Rivers name checks ‘Bosom Buddies’ on Twitter

Tom Hanks may have lost lead actor in a play, but he has a fan in Joan Rivers.
Hanks was considered a front-runner for his performance in “Lucky Guy.” Instead, the Tony went to Tracy Letts for “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”
Letts had previously won a Pulitzer Prize for his play “August: Osage County,” so his mantle wasn’t bare before Sunday night. And, of course, Hanks has two Oscars to keep him company.
COMPLETE LIST: Winners and nominees
Who were the big winners at the 67th Tony Awards? “Kinky Boots” took the most Tonys with six. Coming in second? “Matilda,” with four.
So what did Twitter have to say Sunday night? Here’s a look at some of the quips in 140 or fewer characters:
Tom Hanks deserves to win a Tony tonight for “Lucky Guy!” Halfway through the play, I shouted, “This almost makes up for Bosom Buddies!” — Joan Rivers (@Joan_Rivers) June 9, 2013
Cyndi Lauper admitted on stage that she’d practiced her speech in front of the shower curtain. Later she did a social media victory dance:

Courtney B. Vance called his wife, Angela Bassett, his “queen” in his acceptance speech and later tweeted this thanks to the Tonys:

Jane Lynch tore up the stage with a number from “Annie,” which lost in the music revival category, but she had high praise for the show:

And Jackée Harry gave shout-out to first-time winner Cicely Tyson. Tyson, 79, turned the order to “wrap it up” into a thank you to the Broadway community for wrapping her in its arms and sending her home with a trophy:
Well Played, Cicely Tyson, Well Played. #Tonys — Jackée Harry (@JackeeHarry) June 10, 2013
