Westside home of Al Martino sells in all-cash deal

The homes of a medical entrepreneur, a film executive and a professional matchmaker were among the most expensive real estate sold in

Greater Los Angeles the last two weeks.

$9.7 million — Malibu

George Rapier, the founder and chairman of WellMed Medical Management, and his wife, Kymberly, sold a beachfront home in the 25000 block of Malibu Road for $1.295 million less than the original asking price of $10.995 million.

The couple bought the house two years ago for about $9.842 million, public records show.

The pink-hued contemporary, built in 1993, spans three floors and has a courtyard entry, rows of skylights and walls of windows that take in panoramic ocean views.

An open-plan living room, a formal dining room, five bedrooms and six bathrooms fill the 5,310 square feet of light-filled interiors. Two master suites each have a private deck.

Brian Whitcanack of Keller Williams represented both ends of the transaction.

$9.4 million — Hollywood Hills West

A contemporary-style home renovated by Jay Belson Luxury Development and Michael Palumbo of Palumbo Designs sold in the 8000 block of St. Ives Drive for $3.595 million less than the original asking price of $12.995 million.

The 4,200-square-foot contemporary was reconfigured to maximize the scenery. Living spaces feature telescoping glass walls that open to reveal 270-degree city and ocean views. An infinity-edge swimming pool extends toward the skyline.

Interiors done in wood floors and negro marquina marble include a modern kitchen, a living room with a fireplace, a family room, four bedrooms and five bathrooms. A wide terrace balcony sits off the second-floor master suite.

Victor Kaminoff of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and David Parnes of the Agency were the listing agents. Cindy Ambuehl, also with the Agency, repped the buyer.

$8.3 million — Beverly Hills

Bob Harper, the former chairman and CEO of New Regency Filmed Entertainment, sold his Traditional-style home in the 700 block of North Oakhurst Drive for $195,000 less than the asking price.

Owned by the film executive for more than two decades, the 5,378-square-foot house sits behind a white picket fence on half an acre. A one-bedroom guest house, brick patios and a swimming pool make up the grounds.

Two floors of interiors feature a classic East Coast look. Neutral tones adorn the walls; broad bay windows brighten the living and dining areas. A sunroom lined in brick sits off the main floor.

The master suite has a free-standing soaking tub and a walk-in closet for a total of four bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Nancy Ross and Laura Barton of Partners Trust Beverly Hills were the listing agents. David Berg, also with Partners Trust, represented the buyer.

$7.8 million — Beverly Hills

In the 900 block of North Rexford Drive, the longtime home of actor-singer Al Martino sold in an all-cash deal. Briefly offered a year ago for $6.5 million, the 1920s English Country-style home relisted last month for $7.999 million and sold in about two weeks.

Owned by the Martino family for decades, the house has formal living and dining rooms, a family room, an office, four bedrooms and seven bathrooms in 5,500 square feet of space. A separate guest house features a wet bar salvaged from a home of mob boss Ben “Bugsy” Siegel.

Mary Brill and Jane Gavens of John Aaroe Group were the listing agents. Brill also represented the buyer in the sale.

$7.5 million — Hollywood Hills West

Reality television personality and professional life coach Melanie Mar sold a newly built home in the 1400 block of Stebbins Terrace for the asking price.

Designed by the owner herself, the three-level residence packs in a range of custom features. Exotic stone finishes line the countertops; sliding glass walls transform indoor-outdoor spaces; and a wall fire feature accompanies the saltwater swimming pool.

Smartphone apps control nearly every aspect of the 3,549-square-foot home, including lighting, fireplaces and the swimming pool.

Aaron Kirman of John Aaroe Group and Billy Rose of the Agency were the listing agents. Paige Mramer of Finley Realty represented the buyer.

These are among the top residential real estate sales reported on the combined L.A./Westside Listing Service for the period beginning Feb. 21 and ending March 5.
