Hot Property: Former Yankees David Wells pitching $8 million mansion in San Diego

David Wells, the retired Major League Baseball star who once pitched a perfect game for the New York Yankees, has listed his picture-perfect mansion-estate near San Diego for sale at $8 million.
Occupying nearly two acres in Fairbanks Ranch, an exclusive gated community in Rancho Santa Fe, the home was originally built in 1992 but underwent a multimillion-dollar remodel in 2006. The 12,409-square-foot floor plan, designed for both casual and formal entertaining, has a two-story foyer and gallery, a formal dining room with a fireplace, an office, seven bedrooms and eight full bathrooms.
Among its indoor amenities, the mansion features a billiards room with an arcade and wet bar, a fitness room, a screening room and a wine cellar. Through telescoping pocket doors, interiors open to a resort-like setting complete with a generous patio, an outdoor kitchen and a pool with spa and water features.
Wells, 51, played for 10 teams over 21 years in the big leagues, making three All-Star teams (1995, 1998, 2000) and winning two World Series championships (1992, 1998). He retired following the 2007 season wiith a career record of 239-157.
